Welcome to the Pathbase web site.
Pathbase is a database of histopathology photomicrographs and macroscopic images derived from mutant or genetically manipulated mice. Images can be retrieved by searching for specific lesions or class of lesion, by genetic locus, or by a wide set of parameters shown on the Advanced Search Interface.
Lesions are described according to the Pathbase pathology ontology developed by the Pathbase European Consortium, and available here or on the BioPortal website
Pathbase was originally funded under the European Commission's Fifth framework programme (QLRI-1999-00320) and now sustained under funding from the Erasmus+ Knowledge Alliance of the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) of the European Union. It is free for everyone's use.
As this is a community resource, we would like to encourage everyone to upload their own images, contribute comments to images and send us their feedback.
After 24 years of service to the the mouse pathology community, Pathbase will be closing its doors later on this year. We have been lucky to have the continued and energetic support of many leaders in the field and we hope that this community infrastructure, originally funded by the European Commission, has helped many newcomers to the field to develop their expertise and careers in this important scientific discipline.
Browsable copies of the resources will continue to be available on STORE: https://www.storedb.org/store_v3/study.jsp?studyId=1209 and on archive.org: https://web.archive.org/web/*/pathbase.net
