The alveolar bone at this stage of development is characterised by immature bone trabeculae where the individual trabeculae are lined with active osteoblasts. Note that the connective tissue adjacent to the osteoblasts is richly vascularised and that there are small areas of bone marrow associated with these structures. A few large multinucleated cells are evident implying rapid bone remodelling due to eruption of adjacent teeth.
