Description
Late stage eruption of first molar in lower mandible. High power view showing the area covering the enamel free cuspal spaces as well as the changes occurring in the enamel organ. At the top orthokeratinised oral mucosa is noted. Below the oral mucosa the reduced enamel epithelium as well as the stellate has become transformed into a multilayerd squamous epithelium. The enamel space is still lined by reduced ameloblasts. At the top of the cusps dentine is directly attached to epithelial cells, defining the enamel free space typical of rodent molars.
